Cost of Cristiano Ronaldo retirement home in Portugal nearly doubles to $20m

Legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portuguese retirement home is said to have nearly doubled to £17 million ($20 million).

The building, which Ronaldo, 37, will share with his longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez, 28, with their five children, is located in Quinta da Marinha, on the Portuguese Riviera. Quinta da Marinha is half an hour from Lisbon airport and 10 minutes from the center of the coastal town of Cascais, the quintessential Lisbon coastal vacation spot.

According to a source, “He has strived for perfection throughout his football career and he wants the same off the pitch. He wants everything to be perfect for him and his family. He will take his retire there once his career is over and wants to be 100% satisfied.”

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner originally booked £10m ($12m) for the lavish home, but the price has skyrocketed due to the cost of materials and Ronaldo’s pursuit of perfection. Another insider said: “The original budget was around £10m ($12m) but now it’s up to £17m ($20m). He spares no effort. to make sure he and his loved ones are as happy and comfortable as possible. There have been a few changes from the original plan.”

“But a big part of the price increase is linked to the increase in the cost of construction materials. Everyone knows that they have skyrocketed. This is an issue that does not only affect Portugal.

Construction has just begun on the mansion, and all work on the property is expected to be complete by the end of 2023. This will be the newest addition to the soccer star property.

The Manchester United striker reportedly intends to use the house as an investment. Meanwhile, popular magazine TV 7 Dias claimed that he plans to use it as his family home after his retirement. A source described as a future neighbor told the magazine: “The land was fenced in recently and it was bought by Ronaldo. This is where he will come to live with his family when his career ends. Everyone here knows it and of course we “I’m happy. Ronaldo is Ronaldo.”

Ronaldo’s multiple properties include a seven-storey building overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Madeira’s capital, Funchal, which he bought in 2019. His mother and older brother live on the property.

The former Juventus star spent time there with Rodriguez and their children after returning to his island home after his mother’s stroke in 2020. He then moved to a £3,500 ($4,208) rented villa a week before returning to Italy, where he owned a luxurious villa. Also among Ronaldo’s list of luxury properties is a £4.8million ($5.7million) mansion in a gated fortress estate called La Finca near Madrid, where Gareth Bale also lives.
